Philosophy of Practice
There are many contributing factors to declines in mental well-being; everyone experiences life differently and this is why I treat every patient as the unique individual that they are and provide care that is individualized and takes life experiences and culture into consideration when treatment planning. I believe in providing care that is safe, high quality, patient-centered, holistic, and evidence-based. I utilize a holistic approach that places emphasis on the health and well-being of the whole person by considering the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of each patient. As a PMHNP, I rely on the most current evidence to inform my practice. An evidence-based approach integrates the most up-to-date research available, with clinical experience, and respect for the patient’s individual needs, preferences, qualities, and values.
A good therapeutic relationship should be trusting, caring, respectful, and collaborative. A patient should always feel respected and like their wishes and concerns matter. I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment where you will not feel judged, but one where you will feel both seen and heard and act as a partner in your care. As a true partner in your journey, I will listen to your story and help by providing you with different tools and options that will help YOU decide which interventions are best suited for your individual needs. Tools and options presented look different for everyone and can include, but are not limited to psychotropic medications, supplements, nutritional psychiatry education, gene testing, lifestyle changes, and brief supportive psychotherapy interventions. We will work closely together identifying solutions that will provide you with the most optimized health and wellness outcomes.
With at-risk youth, I strive to provide a supportive environment where they can feel heard and valued. Understanding the unique challenges they face, such as social pressures, I am dedicated to empowering them with the skills and resilience needed to navigate their circumstances and achieve their full potential. With college students, I focus on adjustment and helping them manage the academic, social, and emotional challenges that come with this pivotal stage of life. By providing guidance and support, I aim to help them develop a strong sense of identity, cope with stress, and build a foundation for future success. When working with young professionals with families, I offer strategies to help them transition smoothly from academia to the professional world, navigate career and family pressures, and achieve work-life balance. My goal is to support them in their pursuit of career goals while maintaining mental well-being, fostering personal growth, and cultivating a fulfilling and balanced life.
Nursing and healthcare continue to advance and grow daily, and I am committed to lifelong learning to remain up to date on current practices and competent in my clinical skills. I pride myself in my patients feeling comfortable and confident in my abilities to care for them. Humility in nursing practice is more than being humble about your skills and talents, it also means acknowledging your knowledge deficits and limitations. When appropriate I will utilize referrals and consult with other professionals in the field to ensure the best possible care is being provided.
It is my hope that with this practice approach, patients will leave feeling valued, empowered, and respected.
